History of Creation Station
In late 1992, Judy Carmen (or “Ms. Jude” as her toddler groupies call her), and a partner launched the first Creation Station in less than 700 square feet of space in Sherman Oaks, California when they recognized a great need for a quality, age appropriate, and magical outlet for the youth of Los Angeles. Enrollment doubled within the first six months, and by the end of 1993, Creation Station had more than 200 children attending classes each week. In the spring of 1995, Judy Carmen became the sole proprietor and Creation Station began to expand swiftly. The pressing need for larger space led “Ms. Jude” to relocate just a few miles away in Studio City.
Creation Station was developed to represent the cutting edge in childhood dance and movement. Differentiating Creation Station from any other dance studio in the world is the unique curriculum Judy developed over the past 31 years, which utilizes a proprietary syllabus, weekly themes, and lesson plans for the 16 months through 16 year old child. Creation Station has been teaching all forms of dance since its inception, and has steadily grown with Tots and Tutus classes, Princess Series Dance, Tap, Contemporary Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theater classes, our CSA Academy Level Dance Program, Dance based Birthday Parties and Dance Camps. Creation Station currently has many locations throughout Southern California and New York and is in the process of expanding nationally.
Our mission is to transform childhood learning into a wildly creative adventure. The magic of our younger program lies in the ability to combine the basic principles of movement with early childhood development. The brilliant transition from our award winning younger program into our more rigorous CSA program is what sets Creation Station apart from other older kids studios. Our success comes from our commitment to promoting high self esteem within a nurturing non competitive environment which allows each child to be just that – a child!
